Probablemente pintado 1577-78 , siguiendo la asunción . era el Greco's primera comisión a su llegada a toleedo en 1577 . ganó gran fama en toledo , que era artísticamente bastante arcaico y provincial , y estableció una carrera exitosa para el greco en la ciudad . La pintura ( 300 x 179 cm ) está en la colección del museo del prado , Madrid .
